Would you pay to Twitter?

While no online site is impervious to the pitfalls of offering a free service without a clear plan for reimbursement, it appears that Twitter thinks they may have found the solution.

Twitter co-founder Biz Stone recently announced that Twitter would soon be offering a premium service, at a yet to be named price.

Some of the services that would be available to premium members include:

- Site analytics that tell businesses how people are using their Twitter feeds

- Certified accounts, so that the identity of a person or company can be legitimately verified

- A ‘commercial layer’ which Stone says will be rolled out later this year.

In a time where newspapers are collapsing at an alarming rate, maybe Twitter will create the long awaited business model that will allow all “news outlets” to make money off the internet.
