Fall, and then winter *gasp*, are quickly approaching. It's time to get out of the house and shoot in short sleeves while you can. What better way to celebrate the vast outdoors than with some forced perspective photography?
Forced perspective has been around for ages and has not yet lost its charm. The technique has been used extensively in film, from Laurel and Hardy to Lord of the Rings. In the photography world, it normally means some tourist kissing the Sphinx or propping up the Tower of Pisa.
But I know that you, the Amvona readers can do better. The best part? No photoshop needed. Take a look at these examples from Polish photographers. When done well, forced perspective can produce some excellent results.
Some tools to help catch that forced perspective shot include a wide angle lens, a small aperture and a sunny day. Don't get caught up on shooting people as the small subject either. Making small items, like plants or signs, interacting with people or buildings may be a trickier shot, but well worth it.
If you go on a forced perspective adventure, let me know. I'll make sure to post some of my shots if I get any winners.
