On February 25, the Greener Gadgets Conference will take place in New York City. As part of the conference, inventors are asked to submit their green gadget ideas and prototypes to participate in the Greener Gadgets Competition. The submission deadline was in January, and a panel has already chosen the 18 submissions set to compete. You, the public, gets to put in your vote online to narrow the choices down to a handful, which will then be judged at the competition and a winner will be awarded. The voting deadline is fast approaching (Feb 12), so get your vote in soon! (more to come on the finalists!)
The call for submissions asks inventors to bring forth their "best and brightest ideas for renewable energy generation, energy reduction, socially-empowering gadgets, greener communication, and anything else that makes consumer electronics greener and cleaner." The winner will get up to $5000 in cash prizes, though I think it should be some kind of development help to manufacture the product! If the eco-friendly, green gadget is voted as the best entry, the inventor should get the money to develop and sell it to consumers! My guess is, with all of the exhibitors at the conference and the attention the competition draws, the winner should have no problem finding someone to fund the production, or I would hope that's the case!
