The Federal Communication Commission is looking for public comments on a plan that requires wireless phone companies to inform users when they charge an unusually higher amount as extra fee for data usage, roaming, etc. Joel Gurin, chief of the F.C.C.’s Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau is the one that outlined this initiative with the intention of protecting the consumers from what the commission calls “bill shock.”

A recently released survey says more than half of surveyed Verizon users have a strong desire to switch over to iPhone, if given a chance. ChangeWave, a MD.-based market, Rockville, conducted the survey among more than 4,000 consumers “on their attitudes towards the wireless service provider industry – including trends in customer satisfaction and loyalty, future market share demand, and the issue of dropped calls.” The survey exemplifies the impact the iPhone could have

It may sound like an exaggeration, but Opera Mini for iPhone was number one literally everywhere. About ten hours ago Opera posted an iTunes Store screen shot that confirmed Opera Mini for iPhone was the number one free app in all of the 22 countries listed. Opera boasts that the Opera Mini app can compress data by up to 90% before sending it to your iPhone thus speeding up the process of viewing Web sites immensely.

YouTube has launched a new video series on their YouTube channel that is focusing on improving user experience and further connecting users to what goes on behind the scenes. Each month, YouTube will announce a topic of general interest, which users can also suggest at this post on YouTube’s blog. Questions will be accepted for a week via a Google Moderator page. YouTube will then post a video with one or more employees to respond to user questions.

Facebook recently concluded a week long open forum for Facebook users to comment on the proposed revisions to Facebook’s Privacy Policy and Statement of Rights and Responsibilities (SRR). In all, over 4,000 comments were posted from users all over the world, including regulators and online privacy advocates. “Because not all of these products have been finalized and many aren't yet built at all, we'll be able to use your comments to help influence our product development,” said Barry Schnitt, Director of Facebook’s Communications and Public Policy team.
