Look out Google! There's sharks in the water!

So by now you've probably heard that the Yahoo and Microsoft partnership went through. The MSM (main stream media) is widely agreed that this move is the companies' way of ganging up for the ultimate throw down with Google.

To its credit, Bing is pretty. Their user photo contest resulted in some gorgeous photography. But the site is not as clean and simple as Google, nor are they really offering a new way to search. Plus in order to see the archived versions of the homepage, you have to install the Silverlight application. I've been a Mac user for almost eight years now, but I still have nightmares about trying to uninstall MSN messenger.

Google is amazing because while their empire has grown exponentially, they still have the feel of a humble internet start-up that just wanted to make a better search engine... unlike the software giant that is Microsoft.

Full disclosure here: I am a Google nut. I dutifully log onto my iGoogle homepage, with its Radiohead InRainbows theme, to feed my turtles and do the crossword. A bunch of the news I pass along on the blog come from news alerts I have set up in Google Reader. I even prefer Blogger to Wordpress, simply because I can tie all my blogs together with my Google account.

Oh, and have you seen their headquarters? It looks like all the good things about college (ping pong tables, beanbag chairs and young people) without the bad (you don't have to promise your unborn children in student loans to go there... they pay you). And Google Mars is sweet! And there is soooo much storage on the Gmail accounts...And Gchat? *swoon*

So what I'm trying to get across here is I would wither and die should Google go under. That being said, I think I must not be alone. Judging by how well the company has done, there have got to be a ton of people out there as addicted as me.

Do I think Bing (aided by the lame horse that is Yahoo) is going to pwn Google? No. Am I biased? Heck ya! But being biased towards a product is just a sign that the company is doing its job.

Remember when Microsoft tried to take a chunk of the ipod market with the Zune? Yeah, I thought it was funny too.
