Lighten Up and Shoot

13 Nov, 2009 | by EmilyK

What do you get when you drop two pro-photographers with a sense of humor and little Spanish language skill in Columbia? Hilarity! Thank goodness Andy and Michael are blogging their experience so we can laugh along with them, and maybe even learn something.

Andy and Michael's blog "lighten up and shoot" documents their photography adventures in Medellin, Colombia this month. In hopes of proving to their mothers that they actually do work, the two have started a humorous but educational video series detailing their equipment and their process.

In one installment, they take to the streets in search of models. The goal? To find  models in five words or less.

The pair bring along what they refer to as their backpack studio. It consists of a Nikon SB-28 speedlight,  flash triggers, a 28" softbox, an umbrella bracket and a light stand. While they have some obstacles chasing down models in the streets, the shoot results in a handful of great photos.

Their posts have been appearing with some regularity, so make sure to check back often. Right now they are working on a four part speedlight series. I can't wait till they post some on location pieces again.
