Move over real photography... the iPhone's moving in! The Canon Digital rebel XTi, the long ruling king of Flickr, has been dethroned by the iPhone.
Mark Milian, a contributor to the LA Times technology blog, has been watching the stats on Flickr's Camera Finder, and reported yesterday that the iPhone jumped ahead of the Canon Rebel.
A quick check of the Camera Finder today, however, finds the iPhone just under the Rebel again. Milian reports that this isn't the first time iPhone has jumped ahead of the rebel, but it does not show up on the charts. The people at Flickr blamed the problem on the multiple models of iPhones and instantaneous updating.
So now the latest spike has disappeared from the records as well. Is Flickr trying to cover up the iPhone's success? With their attempts to attract a professional crowd with their pay accounts, it would make sense that the site would rather be seen as a haven for Rebel shots instead of cell phone shots. But then again... maybe it is just a software thing.
