Are you dreaming of a tropical vacation filled with beaches, turquoise water and scuba diving? Well, snap out of it man, it's only October! Fujifilm isn't helping things with their new site Finepix Lagoon.
Set up as a promotion for their line of waterproof cameras and cases, Lagoon welcomes visitors with the statement "If you love the marine outdoors, the the FinePix Lagoon is just the site for you."
While the design is stunning, the site itself offers little besides product information. The Enjoy! Marine Island section "a place where divers can have some fun", makes an attempt to push the corporate envelope, but comes up a little short. One Marine Island you will find two tabbed windows that contain advice for beginners to the medium. One prepares new photographers for their first dive with a camera, and the other offers tips for better photos.
Hopefully Fujifilm intends on expanding the site in the future. It could use some more features, like a photo gallery and a forum... or maybe a map with different cool locations to use your underwater camera.
In the mean time I am left feeling bitter that some people can afford tropical vacations with their waterproof camera right now. Remember those summer days when we took a look at waterproof cameras? It was warm and sunny then... it snowed here in central Massachusetts yesterday. I guess those cameras are going to be used for skiing more than snorkeling. Sigh...
