Eulogy for the F-22... and CS2

Amvona Blog       21 Jul, 2009 | by EmilyK

Today the senate decided to cut $1.75 billion set aside in the defense budget to build seven new F-22’s … and Goose died all over again. Granted, Top Gun was long before the time of the 22’s but hey.

Ronald Dejarnett, a sonar technician with the Navy, managed to snap the great shot below of the big bird in question on the verge of a sonic boom. The picture was taken in the Gulf of Alaska on a Nikon D90 and edited using Photoshop CS2 (aka old school).

Curious about how we plan to defend our country without Lockheed Martin’s flashy technology? This bit of light reading ought to clear it up.

Don’t worry America, you still have that lovin’ feelin’… even if the F-22 program is gone, gone, gone, whoa whoa.
