Web users are finding their news in a manner that may not be considered a “traditional” way of Web news navigation. In February Hitwise published a report which found that Facebook beat out Google News in sending visits to top news and media Web sites. It was the fourth largest source of visits behind only Google, Yahoo, and MSN (still ahead of Yahoo Search and Bing). A recent follow up report shows that Facebook news getters are more loyal to news and media Web sites than are visitors from Google News.

Google has been a roll lately. First with the addition of Google Bike Maps; then their new features for Google Buzz; and just yesterday Google introduced some changes to Google Earth. The newly updated layout for Google Earth is expected to make navigation much easier. Making it easier to navigate is great for everyone, from the guy in his office burning off the last 20 minutes on a Friday to a family who legitimately is using it to plan out this summer’s vacation.

Amazon has just released the Kindle for Mac application that adds to the list of ways users can access their Kindle e-books. The company is also going to be releasing the Kindle for iPad very soon, hoping to get into the iPad-user market before Apple can win market share for e-books. Amazon has said in the past that it pushes more for the sales of e-books than the sales of Kindles, just because the business is better in e-books. So why, when they are trying to push for market share before competitors can swoop in, would they start waging war on publishers over concessions regarding the electronic content?

There may yet be some light shining through the darkness of Palm inc’s inevitable financial fall. According to some analysts the time is ripe for Palm to be bought out by one of the other contenders in the OS war. In doing so, whatever company bought them, would not only be adding the modest library of Palm Pre apps to the repertoire, but the technological strength of the Palm Pre itself.
The plummet of Palm is certainly unfortunate, but it was inevitable. The bigger problem is that the same exact pattern of downfall can, and likely has to happen to the more competitors in the cell-phone operating system game. If you look at why they fell, it becomes obvious that more mobile OS producers could reach the same fate. Obviously, everybody who wanted to compete in the smartphone OS market wants to think that they are going to be the next big thing in cell phone OSs. People want to get on board with the next big thing in tech, so obviously all OS makers can’t be right.
Now that you have your nice recycled home, and your relaxing recycled boat, don’t you need to do some landscaping to spruce up the exterior of your humble abode? The innovators at Recycled Aggregate Materials Company (RAMCO) have developed an eco-friendly landscaping alternative called GreenRock. The GreenRock product looks like rocks that you would put in your garden, walkway, or instead of mulch. But it is not made of rock, it is made of recycled concrete roofing tiles, paving stones, and block.
As we all know, every tech company out there has been throwing their contender into the OS war. It seems that they’ve learned from the 90’s that he who makes the premier software, rules any given software revolution. It seems, though, that one major player has recently been knocked out of the race in a big way. Today, Palm inc’s stock plummeted. This appears to be because of their lack of ability to actually sell their phone operating system. It seems that the smartphone OS landscape just got more treacherous.
